Why PDF?

PDF Stands for Portable Document Format - the Document is Portable, can be opened on different computers, and retains the same Format (especially borders, margins, and when printed).

Other common file types, such as Word Documents have a tendency to line up slightly differently on each machine. And when you come to print it out your copy is unlikely to be similar to the original - even is it was created in the same version of the same program!

Having a document in an Office - Suite program could exclude some users, who traditionally would have had to have paid around £350 for the Office Suite.

Over the years, Adobe Acrobat Reader has been a popular viewer, but current versions are unnecessarily difficult to get, having to use the Manufacturers Download Manager, and then the program is much bigger than it ever used to be, or needs to be! Each version now seems to take even longer to open, just to view a page.

So... you might like to try out Foxit Reader as an alternative. http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader_2/down_reader.htm
